Message in a Bottle
In August and September of 1977, NASA launched two Voyager Satellites, each carrying a Golden Record with spoken greetings in 55 languages, sounds of nature, music, and images.
It was a cosmic Message in a Bottle: “Hello from the children of planet earth.”
David Darling might have left his own message in a bottle—a collection of unfinished tracks he had started in 1997. I believe this collection of music is unique for David in the way he was using electronics and percussion along with his cello.
Michael Verdick had recorded the initial tracks with David and we agreed to finish what they had begun. To do so we enlisted the help of Jiebing Chen (Erhu, Zhonghu), Lili Haydn (Violin), Ty Burhoe (Tabla), John Marshall (Percussion), Janet Feder (Nylon string Guitar), and Carolyn Fazio (Bass).
The album, Other Worlds, will be available for download and streaming beginning on October 18th. I will be able to share more details on our curveblue.com website later this week.
“Stay tuned” in all senses of the word 💜,
Mickey
