Reflected Light and Sensitive Chaos

Reflected Light and Sensitive Chaos

David and I shared a love of water in all its forms. Its wetness and flow, its full spectrum of colors and the range of sounds were a playground for our recording sessions. The moon had its own power, and while not proud of our emotional instabilities, we did find some sweetness in resolve. Among the books we were inspired and guided by were Tao: The Watercourse Way by Alan Watts with collaborator Al Chung-liang Huang, and Sensitive Chaos: The Creation of Flowing Forms in Water and Air by Theodor Schwenk.

During the recent full moon, I was drawn to the nearby Wonderland Lake. David and I shared many full moons together while trying to find music that both spoke to the power of the image and the subtly of its light. Seeing the moon in its fullness and thinking of David, I had a deep longing for him to be here again and for the radiant sensation that he was. The wonder of it all was so present. David’s ability to find wonder in the moment and in so many of us was such a great gift to witness and be part of.

The music in the video linked below is from the album, Gratitude. The working title of the piece was originally “Mystery,” and as we added tracks, it became less of the unknown and more of a journey “Into The Wonder.”

I am wishing for you that some of your own mysteries become wondrous.

With Love,
Mickey
